Penguin

Competition brief for Penguin books, I'm designing a book cover for "One flew over the cuckoo's nest" by Ken Kesey. These are early rough mock ups for the cover design, they're more a way for me to visualize what the book will look like. The idea behind these cover designs is reaching into the idea put forward by one of the characters in the book, Chief Bromden, in which he describes society as a large, mechanized system which he calls "The Combine." So I've illustrated nurse Ratched as a sorting machine with patients on a conveyor belt coming out as machines, this is a literal interpretation showing the nurse as a machine molding patients into machine like beings.

Oranges!

Work for group brief, we had to sell oranges to young professional females, no dependents.

An app designed to encourage users to participate in orange related tasks, a sort
of social hub for orange enthusiasts.

A poster/magazine spread to promote the app.

Story board.

Story boards for a viral promoting Blackpool, the concept behind the viral is having fun for free!

I've tried to convey this idea buy using sea shells, they're free and can be considered a souvenir! They are also found on the beach which too is free. Using shells like breadcrumbs they're left out and around Blackpool all leading back to the beach, the viral will follow people as they come across these shells and follow them onto the beach.

Previous storyboard from a different concept.

Back to school...

Typographic poster

The typographic poster has to relate to my dissertation, which is exploring how videogames have become an immersive medium like film or theatre for example.

The concept here was to take the folds that form the brain and manipulate them to create
letter forms.

When looking at circuitry I made an observation that the bodies nervous system looks quite similar, I took this similarity an ran with the idea that the circuits would represent a marrying of technology and the human body. The circuitry is made up of quotes, names, brands and events that relate to videogames.
